My recent ramblings

Who am I

Howdy, I'm Hayduke and I'm a knapper. I got some heat treated 190ite spalled out (and also large raw pieces, some over 2 feet) for sale. Call me on my cell at 254-702-5595 or leave me a message on here. 3 bucks a pound for the heat treated spalled out stuff. I'll put some pictures up of what the spalls and raw flint look like on here soon. Check out some of my photos while you are here.

Sure thing, how many of the spalls do you need? How much weight? I can get 20 lbs pretty easily into a flat rate box. $60 for the rock, $10 for shipping. Total of $70 I can ship less or more depending on how much you want. I can take payment by check or PayPal. You can e-mail me at paleohayduke@gmail.com if you want or call me at 254-702-5595. My address is 6210 Chimney Rock Rd., Killeen, TX 76542

hey whats up , what type of flint is 190ite? i've never heard of that also how does it compare to pedernales? thanks, mark

    Reply from Paleo Hayduke:

Hey Mark! The 190ite is one of the many varieties of flint that occur on the Edwards Plateau here in Central Texas. The most notable things about it is that you can often find very large nodules of it. Before heat treatment it is mostly grey/few swirls of black. After heat treatment some pieces will turn pink to red. It works very well after heat treatment. Some of the highest quality pieces you find can be worked raw but often show signs of having been through fire in the past. I'll post a picture of a few of the spalls soon.
